The stresses and strains of everyday life can take their toll, both physically and emotionally, which is why Body Control Pilates is so valuable as an excercise regime. By retraining body and mind to work together it helps with everything from relieving stress and building fitness to counteracting ageing - and even improving the immune system.

What is Body Control Pilates?

It's a form of exercise that works differently to other fitness regimes. By focusing on the deep postural muscles - the core muscles that support your body - it builds strength from the inside out. This results in an improved posture and helps the body to move more effectively. At the same time, it creates a shape that is longer, leaner and more toned.

Gently demanding

Body Control Pilates can be as gentle or as demanding as the individual desires, while still being extremely effective. The regime teaches you to be in complete control of your body, allowing you to handle stress more effectively and achieve relaxation more easily.

Who is it for?

It's for absolutely anybody who wishes to improve their fitness, posture or appearance. It's already part of many professional and Olympic athletes' exercise regimes but is equally good for those recovering from injury, or first-time exercisers. Its slow, controlled approach makes Body Control Pilates especially beneficial to those who may have experienced back or hip problems. It is also known to help MS and ME sufferers. I also work closely with clients who have suffered from strokes, heart and other medical conditions.

How do I get started?

I always start with a one-to-one consultation so we can get to know each other, you can ask me any questions you have and I can ascertain your needs. Then we'll agree on an appropriate programme, which will be either in a class - with a maximum of 12 others - or can be on an individual or one-to-two basis. Classes usually last about an hour. I work with each individual as an individual, tailoring the level and type of exercise to provide stretch and support: stretch to develop your potential, and support to promote healing and relaxation.
